Something to Ponder

5-sensesI received this in an email this morning from my Aunt. It was just too thought provoking to not pass on.

There was
a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She
hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always
there for her. She told her boyfriend, ‘If I could only see
the world, I would marry you.’

One day,
someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her
boyfriend.

He asked
her, ‘Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?’ The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected
that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life
led her to refuse to marry him.

Her
boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her
saying: ‘Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before
they were yours, they were mine.’

This is
how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a
Gift

Today
before you say an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t
speak.

Before
you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone
who has nothing to eat.

Before
you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone
who’s crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today
before you complain about life – Think of someone who went
too early to heaven.

Before
whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when
you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your
job..

And when
depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on
your face and think: you’re alive and still
around.

THIS MOVES AROUND

The Sustained Effort Necessary to Induce Faith

Yesterday’s picture for Wordless Wednesday was actually a lesson in persistence for me.  Napoleon Hill in his book Think and Grow Rich states that “If one does not possess persistence, one does not achieve noteworthy success in any calling.” You are probably wonder what a Christmas Tree has to do with noteworthy success. This is no ordinary Christmas Tree. People came from all over the world to get a glimpse of this tree.

Tree At Rockerfeller Center 2009

Tree At Rockefeller Center 2009

I was determined to be one of those people. I had a definite purpose backed by a burning desire to fulfill it. I have been in and out of New York City several times over the past 10 years; however never had the opportunity to see “The Tree.” So last Friday, December 11, I was in downtown New York City enjoying the day with family and friends. I had no idea where the day was going to lead. There where 6 of us there celebrating my 14 year old niece’s birthday. All I know was that at some point before I headed back to Queens for the night I was going to see “The Tree”.

Our day consisted of walking to Empire Diner from Midtown to taking the Subway to Canal Street, (more walking)  then to SoHo (more walking) and back to Midtown. We had a short break at my sister’s hotel before we headed out to enjoy a wonderful meal at Benjamin Steakhouse. During desert, the six of use voted on what to do as our last stop for the night – Time Square or Rockefeller Center. That voted ended in a tie, so we had the birthday girl draw for the winner. “The Tree” won! I was so thrilled, I was going to finally get to see the tree at Rockefeller Center.

Those of you who have never been to downtown New York may not be aware that only 5 people are allowed as passengers in a taxi. Knowing that, we decided to walk from Benjamin’s to Rockefeller Center.  To get to Rockefeller Center we where told to head toward 5th turn right and you can’t miss it. “It is only a few block’s up” We where at 41st and Madison. We “google it” on the iPhone and find out “The Tree” was around 50th and Fifth Avenue. For those of you who have read my personality posts, there was not one “green” in the group of adults. You know the ones that would analyze this, look at the map and know that all we had to do was walk up 40th 1 block to 5th Avenue, turn right and take 5th Avenue to 50th. Oh no this is a group of the fly by the seat of your pants “blue” adults. We head out and take Madison uptown, toward the direction we knew Rockefeller Center was. This place is so popular and big, we should see it right? We don’t need to know EXACTLY where it is. WRONG!

We walk a few blocks, have not seen it, ask a cop, he things it is the other way, but not sure. We ask some of the hotel bellmen, they don’t know. We are freezing, it is too cold to take off the gloves to make the iPhone work. We ask one more person and they tell us it is just off 5th Avenue. To turn around head back to 5th Avenue and you can’t miss it. WRONG again. We turn right on 5th from where we were and ended way UP town at 55th and 5th. By this point, birthday girl no long wants to see anything. She has given up on see “The Tree” and want to head back to their hotel. So my sister hales a cab.

Remember the cab rule, only 5 adults. Remember my burning desire to see “The Tree.” I don’t get in the cab, I am determined to find this tree and experience the moment. The cab leaves, I take off my gloves, use google maps on my iPhone, find out exactly how to get there from my “current” location. IMG_0721

I was on 5th Avenue by the Trump Tower (West 56th), all I had to do was turn around walk back to 50th and it was right there on my Right.

If only we had just gone straight right after we saw the dancing lights display on the Saks Fifth Avenue Store, all six of use would have seen “The Tree” together.

My persistence converted my dream into a physical reality. I also learned to stop, take the time to use the tools I have available to me.

Persistence in wanting to achieve success in my network marketing business is want lead me to Mentoring for Free. Learning to use the tools available at Mentoring for Free, is what is leading me to the reality of that dream too.

Your power lies in taking action. I encourage you to empower yourself and take action on at least one thing that inspired you here today.

Old Key Lime House

IMG_0698

Yesterday for Wordless Wednesday, I posted a picture I took while watching the University of Florida vs Florida State football game on November 28th. What a view we had. Watching the game while the sun was setting into the ocean. GO GATORS.

A little history about the Key Lime House Restaurant is the oldest in Lantana, Florida. This restaurant is famous for a delicious Key Lime Pie. Oh so worth the calories. In 2005 the restaurant took a direct it from Hurricane Wilma. The main dining room was destroyed and major renovations were required, including replacing the original roof. Chief Jim Billie of the Seminole Indian Tribe was brought in, and thanks to his brilliant expertise, The Old Key Lime House Restaurant now features the largest freestanding chickee hut in the State of Florida.

I love my life.
