Network Marketing help from the movie AVATAR? In my opinion what is happening in some of the network marketing companies out there was portrayed very well in the movie.  There are companies out there with management teams who are full of intense desire for wealth and money. When this happens, their ego begins to run the show. The management team will let nothing get in the way of their own personal agenda. This type of behavior can be found in both the traditional business setting as well as the network marketing business model.

My desire with this post is to help empower individuals seeking to make an income with an MLM company by explaining why and how your company management will affect your own personal business success.

Everybody knows that publicly traded companies are held accountable to the shareholders. Most people understand that those shareholders will demand a portion of the profits.  If you are involved or considering a network marketing company that is publicly traded, understand that a portion of the profits will go to the shareholders before it ever begins to get divided up to the individuals marketing the products. Remember AVATAR? Who was making all the demands to do whatever it took?

Another important thing to take into consideration when choosing a multi level marketing company are your companies Policies and Procedures. Most people do not bother to read their P&P. If it is in there, they can and will use it.  I have five friends right now being terminated from there company because of an “at will” clause in their policies and procedures. One day they had a check, the next day they did not.

I’ve never understood why most people in a network marketing  make a really big point of telling their prospects about the jets, big offices, hugh office staff, and various other assets the company executives have. Personally, in my job as a flight attendant, I get extremely angry when my company cuts my benefits and my hourly rate while at the same time giving the top executives a bonus. Remember AVATAR? Company willing to do anything to get that resource.

Why would this be any different in the business realm of MLM? How you get paid (the compensation plan) will be designed to cover the expenses of all those executive perks. There will be so many hoops for you to jump through to get paid. Also, the price of your products will be priced to help cover these “extras”. Thus making it ever harder for you to sell.

Now, you might be in a company, having your own personal success, kinda like Jake when he was able to walk while in his Avatar form; however you have slowly begun to notice somethings just dosen’t seem right.  You personally, like Jake, are enjoying being able to “walk” and make some extra money with your MLM, but your team is really struggling.

Great info here, Debi! I used to think it was a good thing for an MLM company to go public. But no longer. That money should go to the distributors. Thanks, Debi.

A Networkers chance of survival without being guided in the right direction is very slim. The percentage of successful networkers are at about 3 or 4 % so believe me take Debi’s advice.

Great information Debi. I never saw the movie but I can understand your analogies. When someone takes the time to research and learn about the industry and company they are getting involved in, they will see how insightful you are. Thanks for sharing the info and the awesome book!
