Network Marketing Program – Friend or Foe?

22 Aug

Most people are not aware of the benefits of a network marketing program. Just this week while having lunch with a dear friend, she and I discussed all of the changes taking place within our industry. We both have been in the airline industry over 25 years. I started as a Reservations Sales Agent and she started as a Flight Attendant. Now we are both Flight Attendants and have experienced a ton of changes in our work life over the last 10 years. With more coming down the road. We just merged with another major airline and now have a union vote.

My friend and I have extremely different views on what steps we should be taking next in our lives. I’m involved in a network marketing program while she is looking into going back to college.

Why Consider a Network Marketing Program

Not too long ago, gas was over $5 a gallon. Holy mackeral. Does that thought scare you any?
A lot of people think that with a secure job and a secure salary, they’re playing it safe, reducing their risk in life. Right now I have 28 years seniority in my current job and I’m not sure I’ll make the next layoff cut. This is only one of the reasons I’ve decided on a network marketing program.
* What if you get laid off?
* What if your boss finds someone they like better?
* What if gas hits $5 a gallon again? How will that affect you and your employer?
These are just 3 of literally thousands of variables that you have no answer for when you work for someone else.
Not to mention your income is always limited because your employer will ALWAYS take the lion’s share of the income you generate.

A Network Marketing Program Can Give You Options

There’s been more change in the business world in the past 10 years than in the previous 100 years combined. Do you ever feel like you are in a race against time to protect yourself and your family from unpredictable coming changes in the work-a-day world? Things you may not like?  Road blocks beyond your control preventing you from being able to achieve those dreams of success you’ve had for so long?

A Network Marketing Program Is a Viable Option

Network Marketing ProgramThe rules most of us grew up with have consistently been thrown out the window over the past 30 years. Loyalty to one particular job no longer provides security. A four-year degree might get you a job, but that’s about it. The average person today will change jobs seven to ten times in their lifetime. Most will not end up settling in the careers for which they majored in college.

It’s critical that you act with urgency to put control of your future and your family’s future in YOUR hands. One option most people find when they decide to check out a network marketing program.

To Thine Own Self Be True | build your self esteem

22 Aug

Your number one obligation is to stay true to your own self, now and in the future. You do that by building your self esteem. Everybody knows life can be stressful. Most people are pulled in so many directions all day long. This can make it difficult to stay motivated. When we are not motivated, it is extremely difficult to build your self esteem.

These 5 Key Steps outlined by an Ezine Article written by Elaine Sihera may just help you find some ways to build your self esteem.

Can Your Fears Help you Build Your Self Esteem ?

1. Face Your Fears. Make a list of the major problems in your life, then list ways to improve or change them. They are never really as bad as you think they are. Chances are that not all of your problems can be dealt with easily or quickly because they might involve others. But unless you change, no one else will, so it is still your responsibility to confront or address your problems.

There will be some areas where you can take immediate action to begin to build your self esteem. Start with those, because resolving the smaller irritations will give you the satisfaction, the reinforcement and the courage to move on to the bigger ones.

2. Live in the Present. There is nothing happening back there. That door is firmly closed now because the past exists only inside our heads. Nowhere else. There is no harm in remembering fond memories which make you feel good, but ditch the nasty ones. Past activities are already history and we can’t change history. We can only appreciate it, reminisce on it, assess it, analyze it or celebrate it.

We have to accept it and look to the future, especially if we value our lives and want to build your self esteem. Welcome change, make it work for you, even if, initially, you can’t see its value. The change is going to happen with or without you, so you might as well help to pioneer it and set the trend rather than be left behind like a fossil harking back to past ways which are definitely outmoded and will never return.

Build Your Self Esteem by Asking for Help

3. Reach Out to Others. Find the courage to really open your heart to someone. Self-confidence is strongly related to trusting others because our deepest secrets are often not as hidden to others as we may think. Because we share the same environment and experiences, there will always be common threads linking our lives with that of others and, while we are unique, we are no more special than our family or peers. It is this desire to be perfect, to put ourselves above others, or to put ourselves down that breeds self-shame and keeps us being distrustful. We forget that everyone around us is just as human as ourselves and is likely to share our innermost secrets.

4. Loosen Up. If you have ever had a near death experience, you will immediately appreciate the value of this statement. Once our lives are in grave danger, everything else pales into insignificance. Suddenly, things that used to matter become trivial as our priorities change. Don’t take life or yourself too seriously. Let your hair down and enjoy yourself sometimes. Don’t look like a failure by being morose and gloomy. There is always someone worse off than you are. Above all, people dislike those who have no humour – the stiff, starchy, jobsworth types, and those who are constantly negative. That attitude achieves nothing and keeps you feeling low.

If you want to scatter a crowd fast, just call in some miserable people! You only have to think of someone you know who is disabled, very ill, deprived or even dead, and that should put your own life in perspective; to show you how fortunate you are. Problems make you stronger if you strive to overcome them. That is the whole point of your resolve being tested by your circumstances. In fact, to overcome hurdles and survive is the essence of life. If you can’t laugh at yourself, you will always be unhappy, which will reduce the positive aura around you. It is a futile desire to control our situation or to feel superior which often ends up making us feel like idiots!

Let Your Opinions Build Your Self Esteem

5. Learn to be Assertive. That is, learn to express your feelings, opinions, beliefs and needs directly, openly and honestly, while being sensitive to the rights of others. Know what you want and ask for it. That’s the only way your dreams will come true. Just because you wish to express yourself to your boss or partner about something that might be bothering you, or could be sensitive, does not mean it will be automatically unacceptable. As long as you remember that you have the right to express your feelings and others have the right to accept or reject them, you should go for it. Often it is a selfish desire to impose our own rights and demands on others, without accepting their rights in the situation – or interfering with their privacy – which negatively affects our self-esteem.

Saying ‘No’ to unreasonable requests is also a very good start to building confidence. Often childhood conditioning prevents us from actually refusing what others want, regardless of its effect on us. Additionally, talking about our fears or any misunderstanding with others builds more confidence than living in an unspoken, isolated and accusatory fashion.

Key Retirement Solutions

14 Jul
Karin over at SavvyThinker gave me so food for thought with her tweet on July 8th.

Karin’s tweet “Everything a human being wants can be divided into four components ~ Love, Adventure, power and fame. ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Are tough times causing you to question the possibility of having everything you want during your retirement years? With the economy struggling, the best way to get the money to experience love, adventure, power and fame after you leave your job may be to create it for yourself. Starting your own home based business could be the solution. All you need is some start up cash and a whole lot of belief. There is no such thing as a pessimistic entrepreneur. You have to believe that you will succeed.

While reading the Sky Magazine on my commuter flight to New York today, I came across an article on starting your own business. Apparently this is the avenue about 9% of the unemployed are taking to solving their job problems. Jeff Thames, COO of Anytime Fitness says being able to answer “yes” to the question of whether entrepreneurship is right for you is critical to your success.

✓ Are you a risk-taker?
✓ Are you a self-starter?
✓ Are you willing to rely on yourself for a paycheck?

Jeff also recommends picking an industry with growth potential. Have you read The New Wellness Revolution: How to Make a Fortune in the Next Trillion Dollar Industry? Jeff also believes the best way to ensue success is to be a motivated owner, one not willing to take failure as an option.

Jeff’s is a franchisee. He believes franchising is a good option because “the franchisor has a business model that is proven and works for many people.”  Another benefit is the training, support and networking with like-minded individuals who have similar goals and aspirations.

The benefits Jeff has as a franchisee are the same benefits offered with most network marketing companies. There are three very big differences between Franchises and network marketing businesses.

1 – The amount of money needed to get started
2 – No employees are needed
3 – You can grow, learn and build your business while you continue your current job

Studies show that the age group with the highest rate of entrepreneurial activity over the last decade is fifty-five to sixty-four. “If you want to make an impact on your personal wealth, and if you want to create something lasting, entrepreneurship is the way to do that” Ethan Mollick, assistant professor of management at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

My life as a flight attendant gives me the ability to see the world in a first class lifestyle. Giving that up during the retirement years is not an option. I’ve chosen network marketing as a key retirement solution. My guarantee of a pension is no longer there. There are not a lot of options out there in the world today that will provide the travel lifestyle, flexibility in a schedule and the income I want in my life.  So, instead of just remaining a skeptic of the industry of network marketing, I did some research.

Just like in my job as a Flight Attendant, I’ve had to learn some core business skills to be able to begin creating my retirement solution. No, there is no guarantee in my network marketing business; however what I do know is if I don’t do anything, I’m guaranteed nothing will change. I’ll be expected to live on about a fourth of my pay when I decide to retire. That will not provide love, adventure, power and fame during the retirement years.

    Sit Back, Relax and Enjoy

    09 Jul

This fantastic interview with Stephen Fry was too insightful to keep to myself. It was shared as a tweet by Robert Somerville (gurubob).

What Stephen shares on his views of  our behavior and life mysteries will give you something to think about with regard to technology, social networking, learning and how we interact with others.

Sit back, relax and enjoy “the flight”.  The captain has advised us that this trip will take about 30 minutes.

New Skills – Plop, Plop What a Relief

    07 Jul

Do you ever wonder why you don’t take action on the new skills you have memorized and learned for building your network marketing business?

The hubby and I have been planning this trip for several months now. Normally we fly everywhere we go; however life circumstances forced us to travel by road this time. Because this trip is very important to us The Hubby did a little prep work for our new adventure. You see The Hubby’s personality is one that likes to solve problems. He is extremely organized, accurate and punctual. He likes to achieve his goals by following a step by step process. So for this road trip, we have printed directions from map quest. The Hubby double checked the map quest directions on a visually road map to make sure they were accurate. We also have the route entered into the Motion X app for the iPhone. The Hubby needs to be so accurate and precise, he even did the stimulation process on the Motion X app just to make sure it was accurate.

In order for us to be at the Lake in Texas in time for the traditional Scott family sunset cruise on day one of the reunion, we need to leave our home in KY by 4:00 AM. Mr. organized, accurate and punctual had the car packed at ready to go precisely on time.  He is so excited and ready for this adventure that he does not sleep much. Knowing that I was going to have the first “crew rest” for the road trip, I was perfectly content to leave at 4AM and finish my sleep in the car.

The need for sleep took over The Hubby about an hour outside of TN, so I took over the driving.  Now remember, I have written directions and a talking navigational system to help me with this drive. I am driving along perfectly content until we begin to come up to the area where we are going to transition from the State of Kentucky to the State of Tennessee. Now this particular change of highways was not just a matter of merging onto another highway. This involved making a left merge off the expressway, then a right merge back onto another expressway and then finally a right merge onto to the highway we would remain on for over 150 miles. I am having to change highways during rush hour in Nashville.

I’ve been driving for over 20 years, so I know how do to this. Yet I am discovering a feeling inside myself of nervousness. You know like little butterflies fluttering inside the pit of my stomach. Each time “the navigator” advises me to prepare to merge onto a different road, this butterfly feeling takes place in the pit of my stomach. Now, I don’t really understanding this. Because logically I know I have a map, I am in a country where they speak my language, I’m not really going to be lost, I have a “person” telling exactly what to do and when to do it. Yet, I am nervous and hesitant.

Then is when it hits me. Change is possible, but not always easy. Each time I took action, followed the voice of the navigator and made my way onto the correct highway my confidence grew and the nervousness faded.

So even though the skills you are learning to build your network marketing business are easy, simple ones, they are new to you and it requires discipline to feel the butterflies and take the action anyway.

I have one guarantee about our business. If you don’t try anything, you are guaranteed that nothing will change. The commute time to your job won’t change. The limited time you have with your family won’t change. Your current paycheck won’t change.

Spreading my wings and choosing to fly,

    Debi Talbert
